Where Are The Ladies

Ranbir's performance in 19th colors screen award

With the recent rage in our country today, we all have started talking about giving equal rights to woman in the nation. We all are swearing hard enough while holding each others hand, believing that some day we will give the generations to come a nation where they will not have to worry about what gender they have.

Last night after I went home from long day work all I wanted to do was to lay back and watch some good entertainment, and so I switch the remote to colors and started watching 19th colors screen awards. With my long lived dream of making some entertainment for the audience, I notice a huge a distance which the television industry has came over in recent years. Even the difference is visible in their award functions. There were number of performances where sometimes I laughed and sometimes I thought it was needed to be revised a several time but one time  had a “jaw-dropped” reaction. That was when Ranbir kapoor paid tribute to his family who has been an integral part of Hindi Film Industry from more then six decades now. But I was very surprised to see that none of the ladies from the family was given much importance to have their portrait displayed next to the men of the family. Though Neetu Singh was seen shaking leg with her son but there was no Babita who was one of her kind at her time in Film Industry. And never to forget his cousins one of whom is considered to the finest actress in the nation today. As they are married now so should they be considered out of the family?

I found the entire performance very hypocrite as it was all about the men in the family. If a family is considered to be “the first family” of the Hindi Film Industry then I guess they have ample of things to learn about dignifying there Women first.
