Bangla Bhasha Dibosh

While living we all eventually become part of some movement. Movements for freedom, social issues and corruption and so many and why I can write this, is because I, myself have been part of a few. But while reading a brief history about 21st February, I was amazed to see that we had movements for language too, quite unexpected. So I carried on my reading and then found few facts.
1948 was the year when a movement started, it took 8 years for the students from the university and widespread civilians to restore a language. Students were killed and beaten and years later it came up as “Language Movement” first ever of its kind. Since then 21st February is celebrated as “Bangla Language Day” later adding to which UNESCO in year 1999 declared the same date to celebrate “International Mother Language Day”.
It was first ever when students and civilian got themselves involved in a movement which was for restoring a language. Today I celebrate my language “AMAR BANGLA”.
